SHOW RULES:

-This is a Fun Show, so any attire is acceptable as long as it is neat, safe, and in good taste. 

-All participants must wear suitable footwear (no sandals or open-toed shoes) when near the horses.

-All participants must sign the Hearts and Hooves release prior to mounting.

-Participants are to control their mounts at all times, be courteous to show officials and their fellow contestants, and PUT SAFETY FIRST.  Any participant seen mistreating their animal or engaging in dangerous activities will forfeit their entry fees and be asked to leave the premises. 

-This is a family-friendly show, so lewd or offensive behavior or language will not be tolerated.

 

SHOW CLASSES & FEES:

-Entry fees are $10/class for classes 1-13, and $5/class for the Open Fun Show, or pay $50 per rider for the whole day!

-Classes marked with * do not require a horse, and are open to all!

-Classes 1-13 will award ribbons for first through fourth place. 

-Fun Classes will award 1st and 2nd place ribbons.

-Ride-a-Buck winner keeps the fallen $$!

-Pony rides are available for children (and adults!) during the lunch break.  Rides are $5, and you are encouraged to take as many photos as you like!

-There will be a trail ride (between 45 minutes and an hour) open to all following the show.  The trail ride is free to all show participants riding their own horse.  First come, first served if you need to rent one of our horses for the trail ride (special ½ price for the show: $20/person).  See Carey to reserve an H&H horse for the ride.

Open Fun Show (multiple events may take place simultaneously as needed.)

 

 

  1. Carrot Race—Rider rides mount to designated spot where carrot is located. Rider dismounts, horse must follow the rider (or the carrot!) back to starting point. Rider must cross finish line. Fastest time wins!  (All participating horses win carrots!)

  1. Tack Class*—tack and horses provided.  Each team of two carries tack to horse, saddles and bridles horses.  One rider then mounts and rides to finish line.  Incomplete, unsafe, or cruel tacking = disqualification.  Fastest time wins!

 

$

  1. Ride-a-Buck—Each rider places a dollar bill under his or her thigh; last rider with his or her dollar wins the pot.  Touching the dollar with hands = disqualification.

  1. Horseless Jumping*—complete the jumping course, on pattern, in the fastest time to win!

 

$

  1. Trail Course—fastest time for a clean round wins, 2-second penalty each for refusals or going outside lines.

  1. Horseless Obstacle Course*—see how well you do without the horse! 

 

$

  1. Ribbon class—Two riders follow commands while holding streamer between them. The last team with its streamer intact wins.

  1. Water Glass Class–Don’t spill the water! Hold you cup below the marked line. Walk, trot, canter at the judge’s request.

  1. Simon Says*—do only what Simon tells you to do! No horse needed.

 

$

  1. Egg n' Spoon—Follow judge’s instructions while balancing your egg on a spoon. Last egg left wins!

  1. Barrel Race

 

$

  1. Boots Race*–Place your boots or shoes in a pile at one end of the arena, line up at the starting line, run to your boots, put on both boots, and run back. Fastest time wins!

  1. Pole Bending

 

$

  1. Costume Class—The best integration of horse and rider’s costume wins!
